Larry Cordle was born and raised on a small family farm in eastern Kentucky. While a young child he was introduced to bluegrass, country, and gospel music, by his great grandfather Harry Bryant, an old time claw hammer banjo stylist, fiddle player and dancer. He recounts, “mom said I could sing “I’ll Fly Away”, all the way through when I was 2”! Cordle fondly remembers this early influence by pointing out, “we lived so far away from everything, that we had to make our own entertainment. Papaw would get the fiddle out in the evenings sometimes and play and dance for us. To learn more about legendary number one songwriter Larry Cordle click here...

Donna Ulisse

The first thing you're likely to notice when you listen to Donna Ulisse - whether live or on a recording - is the voice. Variously described as "rapturous and angelic," strong, supple, warm, rich, companionable and crystalline, that voice commands your attention, adapting readily to whatever song she is singing, wrapping itself around the lyrics and imbuing them with just the right emotion needed to bring the song home.

Ulisse (pronounced You-liss-ee) also has been called "one of the best singer-songwriters in bluegrass." Which leads us to the pen. Nominated as the International Bluegrass Music Association's Songwriter of the year for two years running, Ulisse has been blessed to have her songs recorded by the Del McCoury Band, Claire Lynch, Darin and Brooke Aldridge, The Bankesters and Nu-Blu, among others. Jon Weisberger

Though he’s classically trained as a composer and performs regularly as a bass player with Chris Jones & The Night Drivers, The Roland White Band and more, Jon Weisberger is probably best known in the bluegrass world these days as the first recipient of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Songwriter of the Year award.  Starting with his first song, written some 20 years ago, he has become one of the music’s most prolific writers, with a growing catalog of nearly 100 cuts by artists across the bluegrass and acoustic country spectrum.
